TASK 1

2. The material has been cut, and the pieces have been sewn together.

* The material has been cut,  ‘ and’  the pieces have been sewn together.

Explanation: the sentence above is correct (C) because there are two clauses. The clauses are connected by the connector ‘and’ and there is a comma (,) after the first clause. In the first clause, the subject of the clause is ‘the material’ and the verb is ‘has been’. While in the second clause, the subject is ‘the pieces’ and the verb is ‘have been’.

TASK 2

Cultural diversity is when population differences are well represented within a community. These include race, ethnicity, age, ability, language, nationality, socioeconomic status, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. The group is diverse if a wide variety of groups are represented. Cultural diversity has become a hot-button issue when applied to the workplace.
Why does cultural diversity matter? It can benefit the workplace. People from various backgrounds have different perspectives. Their contribution allows the group to look at problems from all angles. The results are often innovative.
For diversity to bring strength, it should be valued in the corporate philosophy. More important, it must be integrated into company practices. It takes time and a commitment to celebrate diversity. Workers must be willing to be open-minded and non-judgmental about the value of differences.
Without that commitment, cultural diversity can weaken a group. Differences in interpretation of events can lead to miscommunication. If not addressed, awkwardness and hostilities arise. Prejudices will worsen that effect. People can jump to conclusions and misinterpret behaviors.
so we must understand each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. Diversity is the one true thing we have in common.
Celebrate it every day
.

Task 1 :

As quarantine has become a necessary part of daily routines due to the spread of coronavirus, many people are looking for ways to pass the time while practicing social distancing and self-isolation. After a couple of days, the virus spread to more people and everything got closed, so just sitting at home was getting boring.  While I was quarantined at home, I was not allowed to go outside and I have online classes. All materials are available on the online platform. My lecturer gave us homework such as v-class,ilab, etc, which keep us busy most of the time. Sometimes I'm feeling hungry and trying to learn to cook something in the kitchen and then I really enjoy cooking, it’s just so satisfying when you have everything organized and then you make just the perfect dish. Two weeks ago, I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries. it was feeling so quiet when I was there. I hope that this COVID-19 vanishes and we all go back to our normal lives.

Task 2:

2. The fraternities are giving the wildest parties attract the most new pledges.

The answer is Incorrect.

Explanation :

-are giving is incorrect. It should be giving only because completing should be  participle adjective, not a part of the verb.
-The correct sentence should be "The fraternities giving the wildest parties attract the most new pledge".
-Subject is the fraternities and complete verb is attract.

I.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new virus strain spreading from person-to-person in China and other countries, including Indonesia. In some instances, cases outside of China have been associated with travelers from China. As of 19 March 2020, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia has reported 309 confirmed cases and 25 deaths related to COVID-19. WHO is working with the Indonesian Government to monitor the situation and prevent further spread of disease. Health experts are concerned because little is known about this new virus and it has the potential to cause severe illness ,pneumonia , severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

The virus that causes COVID-19 probably emerged from an animal source, but is now spreading from person to person. The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It also may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of Fever, Cough, and Difficulty Breathing. People who have been diagnosed with coronavirus have reported symptoms that may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus.

As with other respiratory illnesses, there are steps that everyone can take daily to reduce the risk of getting sick or infecting others with circulating viruses,so you must:
-wash hands often with soap and water. If not available, use hand sanitizer.
- avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- avoid contact with people who are sick.
- stay home while you are sick and avoid close contact with others.
- over your mouth/nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing.

Currently, there are no vaccines available to prevent coronavirus infections, so please take care of yourself.
